Hi! How are you? How has your week been?

I've been working on some chairs...did I ever show you these?

They were a sorry sight when we found them by the side of the road in Inner West Sydney.

We stripped off the fabric, stripped the wood and french polished them to perfection. Then we searched for the perfect vintage fabric to match them.

And here they are, Theo and Madge....

I love how they turned out, do you?

They are available now in my Etsy shop : newfromnow and Theo is also available for supervised visits at Elke Klein General Store in Gladesville, NSW.

I still have their 2 identical siblings in my workshop, so if you'd like a matching pair, please let me know!

Have a great day!

Mean while in the workshop....

I am working on these beauties.

I have decided to cast my working web a bit wider and am now proud to say that some of my items will be stocked at Elke Klein General Store in Gladesville 2111.

Elke's store is a wonderful treasure trove where you can find lots of local handmade art works ( some made by costume designer extraordinaire Elke herself), clothes and really cute shoes and accessories. Her wallhangings are truly stunning. Have a look:

Made from recycled fabrics and items found along the way, her pieces are witty and vibrant. Not limiting herself, her soft furnishings and baskets are unique and fun too!

I currently have this beauty in stock with her, a vintage pinneaple lamp revived with a custom shade. Isn't she stunning?

So come check her out at 265 Victoria Road Gladesville, 2111 NSW. Tell her I said 'Hi' :)

Have a great day!

Newfromnow

newfromnow

Some days are brighter than others, and on days like that I like to feel better by looking at pretty pictures like these... Forgive me, as I don't seem to have any references as to where they came from, so please let me know and I'll add the credit.
Fashion has always inspired my interior choices... why not have a fabulously bright piece of furniture? God knows that the drab walls of our rental need a bit a spicing up! How about yours?

Hope you have a great day!

How exciting! We are having a garage sale....well not just us! All of Sydney in fact....actually it's on all around Australia!!

One day where everyone can get their sale on, either to make a little pocket money ( or a lot, depending on your sales skills I guess!) or to raise money for charity. A lot of schools have become involved to raise money for their community which is just fantastic.

I'd like to sell off our surplus items, some from Newfromnow, but also toys the kids no longer play with, some fabulous vintage clothes which are worn not as often as they should be and other knickknacks that we have found along the way...

I'd like to donate some of our proceeds to the Salvos, who along with all the other Australian charities, are putting in an enormous amount of work to help those families who have suffered in the bush fires. Bush fires which are still currently raging, with little relief for those fire fighters and tireless volunteers who are giving up their time to help. I am not a religious person, but hopefully someone is praying for rain... The total home loss is 200 + and counting....

So, come along on Saturday! we will be here from 9-3pm at 10 Massey Street Gladesville, hope to see you there!

Hope you have a great day!

Oh my goodness, do you ever get so excited by a finished item, you almost can't bear to part from it?

Well this is it!

My latest chair crush is a stunning antique convent prayer chair upcycled in a stunning, hand printed (!!)  modern 'Amazeing' fabric by Publisher Textiles, located in Leichhardt, Sydney.

I love the juxtaposition of the traditional chair form with the modern pattern and colour.

The wheeled legs were reconditioned and the springs were redone, making it a supremely comfortable chair.

Now just for the matter of where to place it? Bedroom, next to a side table for a spot of reading? You choose! But I bet that everyone will comment on this stunner!

after the surgery...

Gosh it has been a while...sorry!

Had myself a bit of spinal surgery as it turned out I had a prolapsed disc, degenerative spinal condition, blooming family dna not really working out on this front!

On the plus side, my wonderful husband has been working from home and looking after me, once he had to return to work, our 92yr old nan flew up from Melbourne and took over the reigns...She is just awesome!!!

So this week, with the school holidays, my sister in law came up with her 3 munchkins and we just had a blast! Our kids are all similar in age, and just get on like a house on fire, as do my sis and I. She cooked up a storm, took the kids out and did my washing, so I could rest in bed. I know I am very very lucky!! This morning though it was time to say goodbye, and we'll all be missing them. Hopefully we'll see each other again soon.

On the Newfromnow front, nothing much has been happening, although I did manage to finish a chair before my surgery...

An original Bentwood chair, with the original rattan weaving, I upcycled this piece with a Byron Bay Australian Arabica Hessian Coffee Bean Bag.I love how it turned out! What do you think? In the shop now..
