after the surgery...

Gosh it has been a while...sorry!

Had myself a bit of spinal surgery as it turned out I had a prolapsed disc, degenerative spinal condition, blooming family dna not really working out on this front!

On the plus side, my wonderful husband has been working from home and looking after me, once he had to return to work, our 92yr old nan flew up from Melbourne and took over the reigns...She is just awesome!!!

So this week, with the school holidays, my sister in law came up with her 3 munchkins and we just had a blast! Our kids are all similar in age, and just get on like a house on fire, as do my sis and I. She cooked up a storm, took the kids out and did my washing, so I could rest in bed. I know I am very very lucky!! This morning though it was time to say goodbye, and we'll all be missing them. Hopefully we'll see each other again soon.

On the Newfromnow front, nothing much has been happening, although I did manage to finish a chair before my surgery...

An original Bentwood chair, with the original rattan weaving, I upcycled this piece with a Byron Bay Australian Arabica Hessian Coffee Bean Bag.I love how it turned out! What do you think? In the shop now..

Remember this chair?

Well I finally bit the bullet and upholstered it in a fabric I have held onto for the past..oh I don't know 15 years?? What do you think of the final result?

I'm so excited someone will get to enjoy this gorgeous beauty now. I've named her Beatrice ( Beatrix) after our gorgeous Dutch Queen who is about to leave her post and hand over the Kingdom to her son, King Alexander( and his rather glamorous Argentinian Bride Maxima). Quite exciting as The Netherlands hasn't had a king in many generations!

Hope you have a great weekend!

So this weekend we decided to go somewhere new for brunch. Invited by friends we ventured to Rosebery, and there we found Kitchen by Mike

via Koskela

It is located in a fabulous old warehouse together with Megan Morton's The School and gorgeous furniture and homewares shop Koskela.

Megan Morton is ofcourse one of Australia's leading stylists and she is now sharing her knowledge every weekend, with workshops ranging from Holly Hipwell Flower Bomb making to Beattie Lanser Make a Doily Designer Lampshade ( and the gorgeous Make a Tassel Garland above!)

Whilst we were there the place was buzzing with ladies making  the flower bombs, they looked awesome!
The prices are reasonable too, around $85, and it'll keep you off the streets for a couple of hours...

Something that really caught my eye whilst we were there,  was the upcycled furniture (by Koskela)  no surprises there really. In particular these lovely beds, wouldn't they just look amazing in a kids bedroom, little red riding hood style?

The bedding is all by Castle, my latest linen crush, aren't the colours just divine? They make me happy!

All in all, it was a great morning out, lovely food with great friends and plenty of pretty things to look at!

Hope you have a great day!
